Alright so today I wanted a simple way to follow those La Liga top scorers without constantly searching. Checking scores manually took forever, and different sites showed different stats? Super annoying.

Where I Started

First, I tried just reloading my usual sports app. It showed scores, sure, but finding the actual top scorers list meant digging through menus. Took like 5 clicks every time. Forget live updates – if a player scored late, I wouldn’t know until next day.

Needed something faster. Way faster.

The First Try Didn’t Stick

Thought maybe big sports news sites had widgets. Went straight to their football section. Found a “Top Scorers” box! Good… at first.

• Problem 1: That box only showed the top 5 players. What if I wanted more?
• Problem 2: Zero notifications. Had to refresh constantly like some caveman.
• Problem 3: Stats looked frozen. Game ended, but assists numbers stayed stuck.

Felt like it wasn’t really live, y’know?

Getting Smarter About Push Notifications

Okay, needed alerts. Found the notification settings inside my regular sports app. Turned on every goal notification for La Liga. Game changer!

Phone buzzing with every goal! Great… but immediately overwhelming. Dozens of alerts for games I didn’t care about. Plus, just told me a goal happened, not who scored it or if they joined the top scorer race. Back to manual checking. Ugh.

Knew this wasn’t the way.

Finding Dedicated Stats Focus

Kept searching and found a few smaller sites focusing purely on stats, not news.

• One site had a clean top scorers table showing all players with 5+ goals.
• Best part? It clearly highlighted new scorers since my last visit in bright green.
• Found a similar site showing minutes per goal and conversion rates too. Nice extra!

Still, I had to remember to open that site. Not ideal.

Finally Getting Real Time Updates Right

My breakthrough was combining things:

• Step 1: Chose my favorite dedicated stats page as the “source of truth”. Bookmarked it.
• Step 2: Installed a browser extension that auto-reloads tabs quietly every 10 minutes. So that stats page silently updates itself.
• Step 3: Kept only La Liga goal notifications on in my sports app. Now I know when to look.

See a goal notification? Flip over to my stats tab. Boom. That green highlight shows me exactly who climbed the rankings. Takes seconds. Knows who Bellingham, Dovbyk, Lewandowski are competing with instantly.

No magic bullet, just tools working together cheap and cheerful. Saved me hours already. Much better.
